Elizabeth M. Drummond has returned with a fantastic new single in the form of ‘I Tried’. It’s a cathartic track that was fully written and produced within a day; not that it shows. It’s built around a lo-fi hip-hop loop that acts a serene accompaniment to her voice. “I will often abandon something if I don’t finish it very soon after starting,” she says. “Again, this song is just a reflection of how I was feeling after coming out of a relationship that had run its course.” Her upcoming EP, Congratulations, is an impressive collection of tunes that twist and turn alongside the emotions that are channeled into her tongue-in-cheek lyrics. -Dan Peeke.
